![]() ![]() We will spend a bit of our money and hopefully help the economy of each country we visit in some small way. We will tip when we feel service has been good but as tipping in England is not as widely done as in some countries and due to the fact that working out 10% of a figure quoted in a currency that we are not familiar with when getting out of a taxi or at the end of a meal needs a bit of pre organisation for us. We have worked for more than 50 years to pay towards our pensions and have earned the money that we are paying for a very special birthday/wedding anniversary holiday by saving hard and spending carefully. I am not looking for free rides, I am happy to pay my way when travelling but we do not have endless amounts of money to spend regardless of what people from other cultures probably think. They were taken down before I could read them. I would love to know what the 2 posts which have been removed said. Thanks Maro, good information, I will make copious notes and be sure to write a report when we get back so that it may help others looking for similar information on such a short stay. I guess there will be some specific cruise forums which would indicate what others do? This all makes deciding how much to take in each currency, or to change once there quite difficult. Bratislava is one stop so presume they have their own currency, Budapest again, own currency. We start in Prague with a one day extension so will need local currency there. ![]() ![]() I’m sure there will be more questions but I have already gleaned lots of info from just reading the forum questions. What would we be expected to tip a taxi driver for the single journey from airport to our hotel? If the cruise line organise our travel from the airport, I’m not sure whether at this stage we would pay the driver ourselves but I think they said it would be part of our package even though we are travelling one day prior to the other cruise guests. So supposing we can still travel for free what would we need to show on a bus, something to prove age? Also can you advise re tipping. This may all be dependant on the UK and the Brexit deal which could? might? might not happen before we travel in mid May. That is great news as it would save buying a day card. Hi Maro and anyone else for that matter, you said we oldies from the UK may use the public transport for free in Budapest. ![]()
